Lakshmi Chanrasekaran, a classically trained chef from Chennai, has introduced many in Tauranga to his gourmet take on dosa through his business Food Point. Dosa is a popular crepe-like dish made from lentil and rice batter in South India, but Lakshmi adds his own refined touch with fillings such as lamb or tandoori chicken, served with slaw, chutney, and lentil dip. Food Point started in March 2019, and Lakshmi is now working seven days a week at markets in Auckland, Rotorua, Hamilton, and Tauranga to bring South Indian food to a wider audience.
